I grew up in a house with two elementary school teachers and little access to television for the first eighteen years of my life. We were a “reading family” and our public library was the standard meeting place when our parents picked up my brothers and me from evening activities.
I went on to receive my Bachelor’s degree in English and recently coined the adage, “When you’ve got time on your hands, put a book in them.”
Toward the end of 2009, I began posting a quarterly list of books that I had read, along with a review of each of them, on my Facebook page. I did this so that my congregants could get a sense of what their minister was reading and thinking about.
I discovered that it had the unintended effect of inspiring me to read more. I’ve come to enjoy writing my book reviews and hope that you enjoy reading them.
